Columbia County Jail
Per Diem Nurses Openings

We are recruiting Per Diem experienced LPN’s and RPN’s who can work in an independent environment under the direction of the Facility Medical Director and Head Nurse. Our Nurses address medical issues, pass medications, and handle sick call and emergencies as they arise during their shift. Nursing staff work up to twelve hour shifts (7:00 am to 7:00 pm) The medical staff work closely with the Correction Officers, other health care providers such as the Columbia County Mental Health and the Department of Public Health concerning mental health crisis intervention, HIV testing, Hepatitis Vaccinations and other medical issues. The Medical Unit works closely with local rehabilitation agencies to provide a smoother transition for inmates leaving jail and entering drug or alcohol treatment programs. Weekends and evenings required.

The starting hourly rates for Per-Diem Nurses is $21.68

The COUNTY OF COLUMBIA PUBLIC DEFENDER’S OFFICE is currently accepting resumes for the following position.

Part-Time

ASSISTANT PUBLIC DEFENDER

30 hours per week

Columbia County, New York


ANNUAL SALARY: $37,000.00


Duties Include: The Assistant Public Defender duties will include preparation, research and defense of all types of misdemeanor and felony level criminal cases and family court cases. This position requires appearance at preliminary hearings, pre-trial hearings, jury and non-jury trials at local and county court. Columbia County residency preferred.

Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctorate and State Bar of New York License to practice law. Prefer two to five years courtroom experience as defendant/family court attorney.

Starting Salary – Step 1 $40,202
After 1st Year – Step 2 $42,566
After 2nd Year – Step 3 $44,931

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession
of a high school equivalency diploma and either;
a) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or
one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents with a bachelor’s
degree in accounting and two (2) years of accounting
experience; or
b) Graduation from a regionally accredited NYS college or
university with bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or
business administration, or related field with a minimum of 18
semester credit hours in accounting PLUS four (4) years of
experience in accounting; or
c) An equivalent combination of education and experience as
defined by the limits of (a) and (b) above.


NOTE:
1. At the time of application, candidates who meet the minimum
qualifications with a degree in a field other than accounting
must submit a student copy transcript or an itemized list of
coursework and credits received.
2. Professional level accounting experience shall not include
account keeping and bookkeeping or other clerical financial
record keeping activities.
3. Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be rated for
meeting full-time experience requirements.

a) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a bachelor’s degree in foods and nutrition, food service, nutritional management, or closely related field and three (3) years of experience in administering a nutrition program or quantity food services, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
b) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State board of Regents to grant degrees with an associate’s degree and five (5) years of experience as defined in (a), two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
c) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defiined by the limits of (a) and (b).

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either;

a) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents with a bachelor’s degree; or
b) Possession of a current valid license to practice as a Professional Registered Nurse and one year of full-time paid work experience in that professions; or
c) Four years of full-time paid work experience in social casework or social work in a community or social action program or community services agency, or as a community service worker or case aide in a local social services agency; or
d) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a), (b), and (c) above.
